Feeling Like You're Underwater? We Can Help!

Have you ever felt like your ears are blocked, sounds seem muffled, or you're constantly asking people to repeat themselves? You might be experiencing a build-up of ear wax, and the good news is that help is at hand!

We're excited to announce that ear suction and ear syringing services will be available at Witcombe Health from 14th October, carried out by Charley, our experienced GP Assistant.

Whether you're struggling with blocked ears, reduced hearing, discomfort, or simply want to restore crystal-clear hearing, Charley will be here to help you hear the world properly again.

Why Does Ear Wax Build Up?

Ear wax (also known as cerumen) is actually a good thing. It helps protect your ears from dirt, dust, and bacteria. However, sometimes ear wax can build up and cause problems, including:

  • Muffled hearing
  • Earache or discomfort
  • A feeling of fullness in the ear
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
  • Dizziness
  • Difficulty wearing hearing aids

Many people experience ear wax build-up at some point, and although cotton buds might seem tempting, they often make the problem worse by pushing wax deeper into the ear canal.

What Is Ear Suction?

Ear suction (microsuction) is one of the safest and most effective methods of ear wax removal.

Using specialist equipment, Charley can gently remove excess wax from the ear canal using a small suction device. The procedure is quick, precise, and doesn't involve flushing water into the ear.

What About Ear Syringing?

Ear syringing uses a controlled flow of warm water to help remove softened ear wax from the ear canal.

For some patients, syringing can be an appropriate and effective option. Charley will assess your ears and recommend the most suitable treatment based on your individual needs.
